Candlestick Point, San Francisco Real Estate

Candlestick Point is best known for being the former location of Candlestick Park, once home to both the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. But since its closing and subsequent demolition in 2015, the neighborhood has begun to take on a new identity.
After the final event at the stadium in August 2014 – in which Paul McCartney delivered a performance echoing the Beatles’ last live concert staged in 1967 – demolition began, igniting a new era for the neighborhood and for the city of San Francisco.
Developers have been motivated to create new plans for this clean slate that sits at the furthest southeastern tip of San Francisco. Construction for a vibrant retail and entertainment community is set to break ground in 2017, with the project’s first phase already approved by the city. It aims to bring in more than 2,000 new housing units, as well as renovations of an existing public housing project.
Already settled into the neighborhood, and a very exclusive amenity for future residents, are vast green spaces. In the western quarter of the neighborhood, Bayview Park is known for its diverse collection of plants and animals in its grassland areas. And at the eastern edge of the neighborhood is Candlestick Point State Recreation Area, more commonly referred to as Candlestick Point. The 170-acre area was once a landfill area until the California State Legislature purchased it in 1973. Since then, it has been revived as a vibrant outdoor space that provides picnic areas, fishing piers, fitness courses, windsurfing, and hiking trails.
